About Tunisia

Tunisia is a North African country located on the coast of the Mediterranean Sea. It is rich in geographical and ecological diversity and is known for its expansive history and culture stretching back more than 3 millennia.

In 2011 the people of Tunisia took to the streets demanding democracy and freedom after decades of authoritarian rule. This movement marked the start of the Arab Spring, in which democratic uprisings spread to many other countries throughout the Arab World. Out of the many countries that took part in this movement, Tunisia is the only nation that has built and sustained its status as a truly democratic nation.

While it has been nearly a decade since Tunisia established a democracy, instability and inequality continue to trouble the nation. Evidence shows that there is a strong correlation between a democratic government and the educational attainment of a country’s citizens. Care for 24 exists to support youth across Tunisia’s 24 regions, giving them a chance to rise above their circumstances and pursue their dreams while upholding the democratic values that Tunisians fought so hard for. We do this by inspiring hope and instilling values that pave the way for these kids to grow up to become productive citizens carrying the mission of reinforcing Tunisia’s democracy and the freedom-based rule of law.

By supporting Care for 24, you are not only helping to feed and educate the young people of Tunisia, you are also spreading the integral values shared by the United States and Tunisia: freedom and equality. Your gift is an investment in the leaders of tomorrow who will help uphold Tunisia’s democratic integrity and guide the country and its people to a brighter future.
